This course is an interdisciplinary exploration of current events relating to gender, race, sexuality, ethnicity, ability and class. Special attention will be paid to gender as an analytical tool for the social sciences, gender and politics, and globalization and transnational issues. We will learn and apply a set of theoretical frameworks to address concrete contemporary social problems, and explore our agency in engaging critically with the production of knowledge and meaning.
